Dr Sangita Shrestha is a communications professional, researcher and a writer. She has more than fifteen years’ experience of working in international development sector, higher education, and research organisations in Asia, Africa and Europe.

Sangita currently works as a Communications Manager at Feed the Minds, a london based international developmet organisation enabling people living in poverty to have a new start through education. A Contributing Author at the Gobal Voices and a Guest Editor for Eternity International magazine, Sangita is also affiliated to the Centre for Nepal Studies UK (CNSUK) as a Research Associate.

Sangita holds a Diploma in Information Technology (Software Development) from Holmesglen Institute of TAFE (Australia), a Master’s degree in Anthropology from Tribhuvan University (Nepal) and a PhD in Environmental Communication from the University of Surrey (England).

Sangita is the recipient of ‘Nepal Vidhya Bhushan’, an educational honour conferred by the President of Nepal in 2014. She is also a recipient of ‘Mahendra Vidhya Bhushan’, an educational honour bestowed by the late King Birendra of Nepal for her outstanding achievement in her Master’s degree in Anthropology. She is also a recipient of an ORSAS (Overseas Research Scholarship Award Scheme) award (2008), a URS (University Research Scholarship) award from University of Surrey (2008) and an AusAid (Australian Aid for International Development) award (1997).

A confident and passionate communicator, Sangita has provided many verbal and written reports and presentations at national and international academic and professional conferences. She has presented research papers at international conferences in the United Kingdom, Germany and South Africa, and official/academic presentations in ten countries, across three continents.

Sangita has authored and co-authored many publications. She has an interest in literature and she has also published a novel (Pakhalieko Siundo) and a collection of stories 'Gulafsangako Prem', as well as poems and short stories in various international literary journals, magazines and newspapers. 'The Himalayan Sunrise: Exploring Nepal's Literary Horizon' and 'A Glimpse Into My Country' are her recent publications, co-edited with Karen Van Drie and Andrée Roby respectively.

In her spare time, Sangita loves dabbling in nature photography and is determined to learn more about it.
