The external world doesn't know how rich Nepali literature is: An interview with author Dr. Sangita Swechcha

Dr. Sangita Swechcha is a Nepalese literary figure based in England whose poems, stories, and articles have been published in both Nepal and the United Kingdom. A few of her poems have also been aired on Radio Nepal and telecasted on Nepal Television. She has also published a joint collection of stories, ‘Asahamati ka Pailaharu’ and ‘Gulafsangako Prem’  in Nepali.

Her first novel, ‘Pakhalieko Siundo,’ which she wrote at the age of 18 received excellent reviews from literary critics. The novel focuses on the emotional journey of a Nepalese woman, Sandhya, and delves into her pain, suffering, and determination to overcome her past. It also highlights the issue of human trafficking in Nepal. Global Voices talked to her about her work and literary inspirations.

डा. संगिता श्रेष्ठ स्वेच्छा ललितपुरमा जन्मिएकी हुन् । अनुसन्धान तथा सञ्चार क्षेत्रसँग आबद्ध संगीता स्वेच्छाको रुचि साहित्यमा पनि उत्तिकै रहेको छ । सानो उमेरबाट नै साहित्यतर्फ झुकाब राखेकी स्वेच्छाले १८ वर्षको उमेरमा ‘पखालिएको सिउँदो’ नामक उपन्यास लेखेकी थिइन् । उनको वि.सं २०७५ सालमा ‘गुलाफसँगको प्रेम’ कथासंग्रह पनि निस्किएको थियो ।

स्वेच्छाले यूनिभर्सिटी अफ सर्रे, बेलायतबाट नेपालको वातावरण सञ्चार विषयमा सन् २०१२ मा विद्यावारिधि सकेकी थिइन् । हाल उनी बेलायतमा सञ्चार परामर्शदाताको रुपमा विभिन्न संस्थाहरुसँग आवद्ध भई काम गरिरहेकी छिन् ।

स्वेच्छासँग सल्लेरी खबरको शुक्रबारीय विशेषांक ‘सल्लेरी कोलाज’का लागि विकाश मरासिनीद्वारा गरिएको अक्षरको कुरा यसरी शुरु भयो ।
